Turn your summer into an adventure with Hanmer Springs Attractions, a family-owned and operated business offering jet boating, quad biking, buggy rides, bungy jumping, rafting, clay bird shooting, laser clay shooting and paintball. We’re looking for confident, safety-focused Raft Guides / Adventure Guides to join our seasonal team and help deliver memorable experiences across our range of activities. About the role As a seasonal Raft Guide / Adventure Guide, you’ll guide safe, fun and professional Grade 2/3 rafting experiences while also supporting the day-to-day operations of our wider adventure activities. You’ll assist with jet boating, quad biking, buggy rides, bungy jumping, clay bird shooting, laser clay shooting and paintball operations, provide clear safety briefings, prepare equipment and help create an experience visitors will remember for all the right reasons. What you’ll be doing • Guiding Grade 2/3 rafting trips in line with company procedures and industry standards • Supporting the day-to-day delivery of jet boating, quad biking, buggy rides, bungy jumping, clay bird shooting, laser clay shooting and paintball activities • Assisting with guest check-in, activity preparation, equipment fitting and operational set-up • Delivering clear, engaging safety briefings and activity instructions • Monitoring conditions, following operating procedures and helping manage risks • Cleaning, checking, preparing and storing activity equipment • Providing friendly, professional service to guests from a range of backgrounds • Supporting daily site preparation, clean-up and other operational tasks • Working collaboratively with guides, drivers and the wider attractions team What we’re looking for • A current Nz recognised Grade 2/3 raft guide qualification or equivalent • A current River Rescue certificate • Relevant commercial guiding experience and sound river judgement • Current first aid certification appropriate to the role • A calm, safety-first approach and the ability to follow operating procedures • Clear communication skills and a genuine focus on guest experience • Good physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in changing conditions • Reliability, flexibility and availability to work weekends and public holidays during the season • The legal right to work in New Zealand for the full period of employment • A full driver licence is preferred Why join us? • Spend the season working outdoors in the Hanmer Springs area • Join an energetic team passionate about adventure and great service • Build valuable commercial guiding experience • Enjoy a varied role where no two days are quite the same • Receive role-specific induction and operational training Season and employment details Season: immediate start until end April 2027 Hours: Seasonal roster, including weekends and public holidays Location: Hanmer Springs, Canterbury Positions available: 2-3 How to apply Send your CV and a short cover letter outlining your guiding experience, qualifications and seasonal availability to neeta@hanmerspringsattractions.nz Hanmer Springs Attractions is committed to providing a safe and welcoming workplace. We're on the lookout for NZ-qualified Grade 3 Raft Guides to join us for the upcoming rafting season on the beautiful and technically challenging Tongariro River, based in Türangi. About the Role This role can start as early as September and runs through to the end of April, offering a mix of exciting opportunities: • Guiding Grade 3 whitewater trips • Grade 2 family adventures • Rowing oar boats for fishing clients • Potential to assist in mountain bike guiding • Contributing to conservation efforts for the endangered native Whio (Blue Duck) Trips range from 2 hours to full-day missions — so variety is guaranteed! You'll work a 6-day-on, 2-day-off rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays. We offer staff accommodation, a supportive team culture, and an incredible lifestyle here in Türangi at the southern end of Lake Taupō.
